DetailsSemi-Final Film Overview
A fictional account of a famous children's book author who returns to the place he grew up after years of absence only to find that he is no longer recognisable. An exploration of how memory and identity are inexplicably linked to place.
I wanted to capture how something familiar can become unfamiliar and to challenge our concept of home and what it means to be 'local'. Another aim was to suggest that a local hero has less to do with simply being from a place but instead, to be a participant and contributor to an environment or community, hence the protagonist feeling like a fraud.
Shot and devised on set in one day, the film was created to show what is achievable in a short space of time with limited resources.
