Semi-Final Film Overview
A Muslim couple kept themselves to the Asian community of East London due to Islamophobia in the UK society. When the wife is divorced, she sought a Muslim woman solicitor with Hijab to represent her. But the ex-wife learns that religious symbols are not indicative of being a caring human-being. Ironically it is a non-Muslim local hero who then shows the woman that what is more important is what’s in the heart.
My film was completed on the 22nd of November but I re-shot most of the film after being told that ‘its important that you can demonstrate that you can work alone'. I had anticipated this earlier because I uploaded a trailer in the first round which I produced, wrote, filmed and edited alone. Out of caution, I replaced most of the first film with inserts I re-shot and re-edited myself, leaving only the interview with the Muslim ex-wife, myself, intact. That was shot with the help of a friend to set up the lights and work the camera. I walked like a fool in front of an unattended camera in public for the re-shoot! Give me a medal at least for that:)And 'Thanks so much!' to my Hungarian friend Balint for recommending the soundtrack. Mwah!
