Semi-Final Film Overview
As a former soldier, builder, and biker, John Rothwell had already lived several lives. Nevertheless, at age 32 he had a revelation… He became convinced that he was the living embodiment of the modern-day King Arthur and changed his name to Arthur Pendragon.
Ever since that fateful day, Pendragon has worked tirelessly for the liberation of Stonehenge and has been successful in winning public access to the stones for Solstice celebrations. However, the self-styled King is determined to make a difference beyond the Druid world and is going to run for a seat in Parliament at the next General Election.
The film follows Pendragon’s campaign at Stonehenge he runs as Druid Battle Chieftain, and explores his political ambitions. The grand causes he champions makes a curious contrast with his daily activities, which mostly consists of standing at the fence surrounding Stonehenge, coffee and cigarettes in hand, talking to tourists.
It is a story about one man’s battle against conventions of the modern world and passionate conviction in his destiny to change the world. Meet the charming and reckless motorcycle Druid.
