DetailsSemi-Final Film Overview
When men with nets and clubs are spotted in the woods near his home in Rotherhithe, South London, and local foxes begin to disappear, Steve Cornish decides to make a stand. It seems that organised gangs are taking the foxes, perhaps to use in dog baiting. As Steve investigates, bags and nets are found near a well known fox run, and a fox is found mutilated with a chain through its leg. “Not in our area” vows Steve, and begins a campaign to alert the press, the police, and most importantly, the local people. Dog walkers are recruited to keep their eyes open. Steve believes that ordinary people being on the watch is the best way to protect their woodland, and that preserving the fox as an important part of it will keep the woodland for future generations.
The film was shot and edited by the director, Caroline Gardiner, and includes still photographs taken by Steve, and by the Fox Project. The original music was composed and performed by Deborah Ethier.
