Semi-Final Film Overview
"A Foot in Both Camps" focuses on Lynette Richards who now lives in Croydon, South London. She came to the UK from Guyana in 1959 to train and work as a nurse when she was just nineteen. Lynette is a "local hero" in the true sense of the word. She choose not to go back to Guyana as she feels that she can make a bigger contribution here and that is exactly what she is doing. Not only has she given a great deal to the UK but she also give a lot back to Guyana. Amongst other things she has been instrumental in setting up a service for the deaf. She's now the Chairman of The Cause 2000 which is a UK Charity that promotes Caribbean culture, as well as empowering the Caribbean community by helping them address issues that may impact their lives.
